Methodologies

Hobury promotes sound project methodologies among which PRINCE2 and assesses its own performance against CMMI.

PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments version 2) is a versatile project management methodology with wide adoption and recognition within the financial services industry. PRINCE2 promotes the "management by exception" concept.

As a methodology PRINCE2 offers the following benefits:

  • controllable use of resources
  • effective management of business and project risk
  • formal recognition of responsibilities within a project
  • a controlled and communicated progress with an organised start and end
  • flexible decision points
  • the involvement of management and stakeholders at the right time and place during the project

Project managers are able to:

  • start a project with clear terms of reference
  • use a defined structure for delegation, authority and communication
  • divide the project into manageable stages for more accurate planning and better control
  • keep meetings with management and stakeholders to a minimum at the vital points in the project

The CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is a model which helps to measure an organisation's effectiveness in conducting projects. Hobury measures its CMM level on its own project delivery annually against public domain benchmarks.
